Yawn!! I saw this movie three weeks ago, and it took till now to finally review it. As you can probably tell from my writings, it's quite obvious that I did not enjoy this film. Probably because it's a chick film. Twelve Nights covers the rise and fall of the relationship of two couples, Jeanie (played by Cecilia Cheung) and Alan (played by Eason Chan). It focuses on the twelve significant nights (not consecutive) of the young couples lives. The night that they met, the night that they admited their love, the night that they had their first fight.....well, you get the idea.

This movie was directed by Aubrey Lam who was inspired by the classic Ingmar Bergman film: "Scenes From a Marriage." Aubrey Lam is a talented writer who wrote screenplays for the popular "Heaven Can't Wait" and "The Age of Miracles." Twelve Nights was to be Lam's director's debut. I'm pretty sure that she put her heart into this film, but it just didn't do it for me. One of the reasons was mainly because I cannot seem to relate to any of the characters. This is a movie seen strictly and exclusively from a woman's point of view. Perhaps that's why I cannot seem to understand it.

This movie gives a fresh new outlook on love and relationship, and fans of Cecilia and Eason should not miss this film. But if you're the type of person who despises dramatic, talkative-type movies I advise you to stay away from this one. Granted this movie had some good scenes in it, but it was not enough to save this film. Watchable, but also forgettable.
